A historical landmark in Legazpi City, Albay, the Ibalong Heroes Monument honors the mythical heroes Baltog, Handyong, and Bantong. This monument celebrates the Bicolano folk epic "Ibalong," a story of bravery and adventure in the ancient land of Ibalon, the old name of Bicol.
The structure features relief sculptures of the three legendary warriors, with their names inscribed in ancient Alibata characters on each post. It is located at the junction of Bicol 630 and Quezon Avenue, near Legazpi Boulevard and a college school. The epic itself is believed to be based on the Asian epic Ramayana and was said to be narrated by an ancient sage named Kandunung. The monument serves as a proud symbol of Bicolano heritage, keeping the stories of these epic heroes alive for locals and visitors alike. It is a meaningful stop for history lovers, culture enthusiasts, and anyone interested in the rich folklore of the Bicol Region.
